Winter Hut/yurt Trip
Equipment List
Trained and experienced guides will be carrying a first aid kit, navigation equipment, skin wax/scraper, inReach satellite device, repair kit, bivy/rescue sled and survival supplies. We will also provide all warm meals and hot drinks for the duration of the trip.
Sun Valley Mountain huts Provides:
Sleeping pad
Full Kitchen with cooking and eating utensils
Toilet/Paper Towels, Cleaning products
Magazines, books, paper, pens, games, playing cards
Water purification (snow is melted for water)
Solar power via USB connectors
Wood stove and firewood supplied
Sauna or rustic hot tub (Fishhook only)
What you need:
Ski/Snowboard Equipment:
Touring skis or splitboard setup
Touring ski/snowboard boots (walk mode on ski/hard boots)
Climbing skins (pre-cut to fit skis/splitboard)
Adjustable poles (3 piece poles recommended for splitboards)
Avalanche Equipment:
Avalanche transceiver (must be a 3 antenna transceiver)
Avalanche probe
Avalanche shovel (metal blade)

Clothing:
Long underwear tops and bottoms (a polypropylene/wool baselayer blend is recommended)
Sun hoodie (recommended for warmer days)
Mid layer(s)
Insulated jacket or puffy coat
Hard or soft shell jacket (wind and water resistant)
Shell pants or bibs (wind and water resistant)
Ski socks
Buff or neck gaiter
Beanie or wool hat (brimmed hats recommended for sun protection)
Lightweight gloves (for uphill touring)
Warm gloves or mittens (*wind and water resistant - for skiing!)
Ski goggles
Yurt Items:
Sleeping bag (down or synthetic/rated to at least 20℉) with compression sack
Down booties/slippers with rubber soles
Camp towel such as PackTowl & swim suit (optional for sauna or hot tub)
Toiletry kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, personal medication etc.)
Inflatable pillow (or puffy jackets in a stuff sac work well!)
Comfy aprés ski clothes at the hut (ex: cotton t-shirt and shorts)
Charging cords
Overnight pack (if not using a porter) that is big enough to carry all the above items
Personal Items:
35-50L Day Pack that is big enough to carry all the above items, avalanche equipment, and any additional food (*all avy equipment must fit inside backpack)
1-2 liter water bottle (filled) - hydration bladders tend to freeze up during winter (unless using an insulated bladder)
Headlamp (with extra batteries)
Blister kit (if prone, carry your own please)
Sun glasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and a hat
