Mike Hattrup

Mike Hattrup has been an AMGA certified ski guide for over 20 years, and his quest for fresh tracks has taken him to all the alpine countries of Central Europe, as well as Russia, Japan, Turkey, Norway, Bolivia, Chile, New Zealand, Australia, Greenland, and Canada.

Before becoming a guide, Mike spent a brief time as a mogul specialist on the US Freestyle Ski Team and starred in over a dozen ski films, including the classic Blizzard of Aahhhs.

When Mike’s not guiding, he’s developing backcountry ski equipment. He is currently the Business Unit Director for Black Diamond’s SKI category and was previously the Global Director for K2’s Backside division and the North American Product Manager for Fischer skis.

In 2021, the ski industry recognized his contributions by inducting him into the US Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame. He has called Sun Valley home for over 30 years and raised two amazing skiers with his wife, Claudia.
