Equipment List
AMGA certified rock guides will be carrying a first aid kit, navigation equipment, inReach satellite device, repair kit, and survival supplies.
Sun Valley Guides provide:
Harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and belay device
Ropes, carabiners, anchors, etc.
Maps, compasses, and a free trial for CalTopo mapping app
Tents, backpacking stoves, sleeping bags
Food for the overnight trip
*if you bring your climbing equipment, it must be in good working condition and purchased new within the last 7 years
What you need:
Personal items:
Lunch, energetic snacks (during the day trips)
1-2 liters of water (hydration bladders work well)
Sun glasses, sunscreen, lip balm, and a hat
Day pack that is big enough to carry all personal and clothing items (~60 liters)
Clothing:
Warm layer such as fleece jacket, sweater, or other warm layer (regardless of hot weather)
Rain jacket
Lightweight pants or shorts (if weather is forecast to be warm), no cotton such as Jeans or Sweatpants
Breathable t-shirt is acceptable in warmer weather, but a sun hoodie is recommended
Sneakers or light duty hiking boots (no sandals/flip flops)
Overnight Items:
Insulated jacket or puffy
Lightweight gloves (weather dependent)
Beanie or lightweight wool hat
2-3 pairs of wool hiking socks (Smartwool socks)
2 pairs of underwear
Toiletry kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, personal medication, etc.)
Camp shoe (lightweight sandals or crocs)
Sleeping pad (bring a patch kit if inflatable)
Sleeping bag (~30*F rated - SVG has some for rent)
Plastic bowl and spork for eating meals (Tupperware works!)
